Panel discussion on Pharma, Healthcare & Life Sciences: Gearing up for the next level growth at Make in Telangana (Virtual Conference and exhibition on Invest in Telangana: Opportunities in Post COVID) was organized by CII scheduled between 1100-1200 Hrs on 28 August 2020.The panel discussion witnessed participation from Lifesciences experts from varied fields: Dr. Anand Kumar, Managing Director, Indian Immunologicals Ltd, Mr. Madan R Krishanan, Vice President MITG APAC & VP-MD India Subcontinent (South Asia), Medtronic, Mr. Krishna Kanumuri, Managing Director, Sai Life Sciences and Mr. Sanjay Singh, Partner, Deal Advisory Head, Lifesciences Sector, KPMG as speakers. The session was moderated by Mr. Shakthi Nagappan, Director – Life sciences, Govt. of Telangana.

Sai Lifesciences Limited, a growing contract research organisation announced the commissioning of its new Research and Technology centre in Hyderabad on 15thAugust, 2020. The Centre, located in Genome Valley, is spread across 83000 sq ft with several unique features. The new Research & Technology centre is adjoining their current R&D facility in Genome Valley, Hyderabad. The Centre was inaugurated by Mr. K.T Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, IT, MA & UD, Government of Telangana.
Hon’ble Minister Shri. KT Rama Rao on 11th August 2020 interacted with the senior officials of Medtronic to brief them on on various initiatives taken by Telangana government to promote the medical devices sector. The meeting also marked the announcement of investment plan of Rs. 1200 crores in scaling up and expanding the current R&D centre into a state-of-the-art engineering and innovation centre in Hyderabad.
Hon’ble Minister Shri. KT Rama Rao on 5th August 2020chaired the first meeting of the reconstituted Lifesciences advisory committee. Government has reconstituted the lifesciences advisory committee with members of industry and academia with a term of two years. Mr. Satish Reddy, Chairman, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories will be the Chairman, Ms. Mahima Datla, Managing Director of Biological E will serve as Vice-Chairman and Director Life Sciences Government of Telangana will be convener for the committee. The objective of the Lifesciences advisory committee is to serve a structured interface between Government, Industry and Academia.
Hon’ble Minster, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao visited the Genome Valley premises on 4th of August 2020 to meet the leadership team of Bharat Biotech and Biological E to examine the status of vaccine development for COVID-19 and assure the state government’s support to ongoing efforts by the companies to develop the vaccine. The primary objective of the visit was to elicit the challenges faced by the companies in the vaccine development and the support required from Government of Telangana and Government of India. A panel discussion on “The Vaccine Race: Balancing Science and Urgency” was also organised and moderated by the Minister himself.
