IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Thursday launched the second IT Policy.
Telangana launched its first IT policy in 2016 after the State came into being in 2014. The first policy has done exceedingly well and largely stands excluding disruptions happened in the last 18 months due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The new IT policy will focus on digital empowerment of citizens, innovation and entrepreneurship, and taking innovation ecosystem to global levels. Technology for social good will be the focus area, with distributed development as the mantra for taking IT to tier 2 and 3 cities.
Telangana is the hub of emerging technologies and the T-Fibre, the fibre optic network in the State, is not matched by any other State. Telangana is among the pioneers to use technology and ‘Medicine from the Sky’ project launched last week is an example of that.
Hyderabad offers scope for adopting digital technologies for enhancing the quality of life. The government departments will be the drivers of technology use.
