Hon’ble Minister Sri D. Sridhar Babu Says Telangana Aims to Emerge as a National Model for People-Centric Digital Governance
Telangana launches MeeSeva services on WhatsApp in partnership with Meta, offering 580+ services from 38 departments.
Telangana aspires to position itself as a national role model in people-centric digital governance, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu announced Tuesday while launching the State’s new MeeSeva Services on WhatsApp at Taj Krishna, Banjara Hills.
The initiative, developed in partnership with Meta and MeeSeva, enables citizens to access more than 580 services from 38 government departments directly through WhatsApp. Officials characterized this as among the largest government–WhatsApp service integrations in the country, offering service delivery “at citizens’ fingertips” without the need for additional applications.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sridhar Babu stated the State is committed to transforming governance into a participatory, transparent, and citizen-led process. “Governance should not happen within closed walls. It must integrate citizens as active participants, with technology bringing services directly to their doorstep,” he remarked.
The Minister emphasized the government views technology as an instrument of equality, ensuring that digital benefits reach “even the last person in remote corners of Telangana.”
The government has set a target of training 10 lakh youth annually in Artificial Intelligence. Telangana is advancing with initiatives such as the AI-powered Telangana Digital Exchange (TGDeX), AI City, AI University, and the Telangana Innovation Hub.
Mr. Sridhar Babu noted that Telangana’s GenAI-driven, mobile-first model has reshaped citizen service delivery. The WhatsApp-based MeeSeva services will soon be available in Telugu and Urdu, with voice-command features under development. The government plans to expand services to more departments ahead.
Telangana’s digital governance initiatives are attracting interest from other States exploring similar technology-driven service delivery models. Special Chief Secretary (IT) Sanjay Kumar, Hyderabad Collector Harichandan, MeeSeva Commissioner Ravi Kiran, and Meta representatives attended the launch.
