Our Goal is to Make Hyderabad a Leader in AI Product Engineering: IT Minister
Minister Sridhar Babu targets lifting Telangana IT exports from $30 billion to $200 billion by 2030 via the Global AI City.
Telangana’s IT Minister Duddila Sridhar Babu outlined an ambitious vision to transform Hyderabad’s technology sector, emphasizing artificial intelligence as the primary growth driver for the region’s future development.
The Minister set forth plans to elevate annual IT exports from the current $30 billion to $200 billion by 2030, marking a significant expansion of the state’s technological footprint. This aggressive target reflects confidence in emerging opportunities within the global technology marketplace.
Central to this strategy is the establishment of the Global AI City, a 200-acre facility designed to serve as “a premier hub for artificial intelligence” featuring cutting-edge infrastructure and GPU hardware for AI model development.
The government is actively pursuing Global Capability Centres and Technology Capabilities Centres to catalyze sector growth. The state has demonstrated resilience, achieving 11.3% export growth in FY24 despite broader slowdowns affecting India’s IT industry.
Additional initiatives include the Young India Skilling University and Centers of Excellence focusing on deep technology training in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science to develop talent across rural and urban areas.
Hyderabad will host a major global AI conference on September 5-6, positioning itself as a central technology hub for international innovation and collaboration.
