Policy on AI Infrastructure Likely After GAIS Summit: Minister Sridhar Babu
Minister Sridhar Babu says Telangana will chart an AI infrastructure policy after the Global AI Summit concludes.
IT Minister D Sridhar Babu announced on Tuesday that the state government plans to develop an artificial intelligence infrastructure policy following the Global AI Summit scheduled for September 5-6.
Speaking at the summit’s curtain raiser event organized by the Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association, Sridhar Babu stated, “After the conclusion of GAIS, we will enter a new journey where the focus will be on what sort of architecture is required to make Hyderabad a global AI capital.”
The minister emphasized that the summit’s scope extends beyond the technology sector to encompass hospitality, defense, agriculture, governance, and infrastructure management. He noted several companies have expressed interest in partnering with the state.
Initial investment projections of Rs 4 billion have already been exceeded. The government intends to prioritize research and development, with plans to upskill 10,000 students in AI and GenAI through collaborations with TASK, T-Hub, and TSIC.
Regarding job displacement concerns, Sridhar Babu emphasized the government’s commitment to workforce development, including consideration of introducing AI curriculum in schools for grades 7 and 8.
