CM Revanth Reddy Outlines CURE Net-Zero Vision for Hyderabad at Mumbai Climate Week

CM Revanth Reddy announces Hyderabad will become the first Indian city to undertake a carbon footprint audit, targeting Net Zero by 2034.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy stated that the Core Hyderabad Urban Region (CURE) will be developed as a green, Net Zero services hub, positioning Hyderabad as a national benchmark for sustainable urban growth.

At Mumbai Climate Week with NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Shri Suman Bery and Kenyan MP Ms Charity Kathambi Chepkwony, Chief Minister noted the global shift from climate change to a climate emergency, urging urgent and collective action.

Under the Telangana Rising vision, the State’s economy is set to grow from $200 billion to $1 trillion by 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047, aligned with sustainability, green energy, and clean industrialisation. To achieve Net Zero by 2034, Telangana has adopted a three-zone strategy: CURE (green services hub), PURE, and RARE (industrial corridor).

Key infrastructure projects — including the Regional Ring Road, Regional Ring Rail, dry ports, expressways, connectivity hubs, and new airport facilities — will integrate green energy. Initiatives like Bharat Future City, Musi Riverfront, lake restoration, and flood mitigation embed sustainability into urban growth.

Renewable energy, pump storage, and clean power are being expanded to meet a projected 34,000 MW peak demand, with nearly one-fourth of current power from renewables. Urban mobility reforms and rural green energy transitions further strengthen sustainable development.

Hyderabad will become the first Indian city to undertake a carbon footprint audit, with the Chief Minister confirming that polluting industries will not be permitted within the Core Urban Region (CURE) over the next five years.

Telangana’s model balances Economy, Environment, Education & Skills, Energy, Employment, and Entrepreneurship, focusing on green jobs and future-ready growth.
