Hon’ble CM Sri A. Revanth Reddy Participated in the Flag-off Ceremony of Vikram-1 Rocket at Skyroot Aerospace HQ (Max-Q Campus), GMR Aerospace Park, Shamshabad, Hyderabad

CM Revanth Reddy flags off India's first privately developed orbital rocket, Skyroot's Vikram-1, ahead of launch from Sriharikota.

Telangana’s Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy formally initiated the flight hardware launch of Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 rocket at the company’s Max-Q facility in Hyderabad’s GMR Aerospace Park. The Minister for Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu accompanied him at the ceremony.

Vikram-1 represents India’s first privately developed orbital rocket. Following the flag-off, the hardware will proceed to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota for launch operations scheduled in the coming months.

The Chief Minister praised the accomplishment, stating: “Skyroot has developed India’s first privately built orbital rocket to carry satellites into space.”

He emphasized Telangana’s aerospace leadership position, noting that global companies including Boeing, Airbus, and Safran operate within the state. The government aims for the region to become a worldwide aerospace leader by 2047.

Engineering exports from Telangana achieved 117.9% growth between 2023-24 and 2024-25, with aircraft components and defense equipment driving this expansion, according to central government data.

The administration is collaborating with Skyroot to develop workforce capabilities through the Young India Skills University, Advanced Technology Centres, and polytechnic institutions to address industry talent requirements.

Skyroot CEO Pawan K. Chandana expressed strong commitment to partnering with YISU, identifying skilled workforce development as the company’s primary challenge.
