India
- Toys have been recognized as one of the champion sectors with significant export potential. The Indian toy industry is
among the fastest-growing globally, projected to reach $ 3 Bn by 2028, growing at a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth
Rate) of 12% between 2022-28. - The sector is dominated by small & medium sized manufacturers. MSME Sector significantly contribute to both manufacturing and exports to large global & domestic brands.
- The Indian toy sector is expanding on the back of a growing young population, rising incomes & robust ecosystem
- The industry stands on the peak of significant opportunities in every toy segment such as STEM toys, electronic toys, puzzles, construction & building toys, dolls, ride-ons, sports and outdoor play toys, infant/pre-school toys, & activity toys.
- Children are very easily fascinated with high-end games such as activity based toys, Remote-controlled helicopters and problem solving puzzles. Robots also have a separate fan base. Today, children have access to an assortment of toys which make them more creative.
Telangana
- The Government of Telangana has laid the foundation and is all set to develop an exclusive Toys Park at Dandumalkapur on National Highway 65, just 20 kms from Hyderabad ORR.
- The Toy Park will have world class infrastructure and facilities to promote manufacturing of soft toys, STEM toys, electronic, plastic and silicone toys. It will also have plug and play facility to support MSMEs and provide an opportunity for regional artisans making wooden toys.
- The Telangana Toy Park is expected to generate 10,000 new employment opportunities particularly to rural youth and local residents.
- The park will also have a Design & Testing facility, Common Facility Center, Research & Development facility, Skill development centre, Toy Museum, and children’s amusement park facility etc., to support toy manufacturers and reduce the cost of production.
MAJOR INVESTMENTS
Government Support
- Around 5-acre area land within a 100-acre MSME park has been allotted for the park.
- The toy park is expected to generate employment opportunities for around 2,500 rural youth, local residents, and regional artisans making wooden toys. It will also have a toy museum, common facility center, research & development facility, skill development center and children’s amusement park facility.
- The toy park will have the availability of a plug-and-play option as well.
- It will also promote the manufacture of wooden and local toys and will also incentivise regional artisans to produce wooden toys.
- Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self- Certification System (TS-iPASS) – Faster Clearances & Right to Clearance.
- Net VAT/CST or SGST for a period of 7 years : 100% for Micro & Small, 75% for Medium and 50% for Large Industries.
- Fixed power cost reimbursement @ Re 1 per unit for a period of 5 years.
- 25% rebate in land cost limited to Rs 1 million in Industrial Estates/Industrial Parks & 25% Land conversion charges for industrial use.
- 25% subsidy on specific cleaner production measures limited to Rs 0.5 million.
- 100% reimbursement of Stamp duty and transfer duty paid by the industry.
- 15% investment subsidy on fixed capital investment subject to a maximum of Rs.20.00 lakhs.
- 50% Reimbursement of cost involved in skill upgradation and training the local manpower. 50% subsidy on the expenses incurred for quality certification/ patent registration.
- Transport subsidy will be provided (on similar lines of Electronics Policy of Telangana 2016) on fuel cost / billing
and freight (train), for the first five (05) years on imports & also exports of the parts & components, from the
Seaport to & from Toys Park.
- Developing an e-commerce platform for handicraft artisans
- Incentivizing manufacturing and exports via central government
- Focusing on production of mechanical and electronic toys
- Promoting development of digital and online games
- Promoting innovation and design, and upskilling artisans
- Meeting crowdsourcing procurement needs to boost demand
- Observing an annual ‘Made in India Toy Day’ in schools
- Increasing awareness and production of indigenous toys
- Airing programs on toys on public channels such as Doordarshan
- Promoting toys made with recycled and upcycled materials
- Building toy repository centres
- Organizing events like hackathons to encourage design and innovation
- Building India’s first ‘Toy Museum’
- Increasing sales via consumer outreach
- Utilizing analytics and digital marketing tools for targeted brand promotion
- Organizing annual toy fairs and exhibitions across production hubs
