Introduction to RICH
RICH (Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad) is an initiative that has been conceived to unlock the national treasure created by the top scientific research institutions in Telangana State and to actively facilitate the process of taking their research to market. This requires new ideas, innovations, technologies, advisors, mentors, funding, and support services, to be brought together seamlessly.
RICH is the platform that links research institutions, academia, and industry along with venture capitalists, angel investors, and incubators. RICH is initially focussed on three sectors Aerospace, Defence and Sustainability, Food and Agriculture, and Lifesciences.
RICH's impact on Innovation in Telangana
Over 3 years, RICH has supported 97 startups, engaged with 40 corporates and 44 research and academic institutions, 15 international partnerships have been forged, 6 governmental initiatives have started and 8 transformational initiatives have been undertaken.

Meet our DG
Ajit Rangnekar is the Director General of Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad, a Telangana Government initiative to take Innovation in Agriculture, Health and Sustainability to Market. He retired as the Dean of Indian School of Business, where too he espoused Entrepreneurship and Innovation in socially important sectors. He has been a member of many global committees and advises Boards of Foundations and Social Ventures.
Prior to ISB, he was in HongKong for over twenty years, primarily with Price Waterhouse Consulting, handling various roles including Country Head, first of PW and then of PwC Consulting practice, and East Asia Head of PwC Telecomm practice and of Learning and Development.
He is a graduate of IIT, Bombay, and did his post graduation in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad. He runs the Hyderabad chapter of Social Venture Partners, an organisation which provides pro bono advice to NGOs to scale up their impact.
